311 Spencer St – Victorian Police Headquarters
Civic & law enforcement · Melbourne
A lighting strategy for a new police headquarters, where security requirements and a welcoming working environment had to be satisfied by the same scheme.
As lead lighting designer and project manager for 311 Spencer Street at WSP Australia, I played a central role in developing a cohesive lighting strategy for Victoria Police and associated law enforcement agencies.
Security and architecture together
Working closely with stakeholders, I oversaw the design and implementation of lighting that complements the architectural vision and enhances security, developed so that the two requirements support one another rather than compete.
One precinct across two buildings
The scheme integrates seamlessly with the adjacent City West Police Complex at 313 Spencer Street, so that the two buildings read as a single precinct. Together they establish the new Victoria Police Centre, a modern precinct that supports operational efficiency and provides a secure, welcoming environment for law enforcement professionals.
