Lighting for a musical with a deliberately simple set, where the atmosphere of each scene had to be carried by light.
I was the lighting designer for A New Brain, staged by The Popular Mechanicals and Camberwell Grammarians Theatre Company in January 2018.
Lighting a simple set
I developed a lighting scheme that complemented the production’s simplistic set and its evocative themes, enhancing the atmosphere for each scene.
Working with the design team
Working closely with the director and the design team, I ensured the lighting stayed in harmony with the production’s colour palette and its seamless transitions, capturing the emotional depth of the show and the varied locations it moves through.
